Colocation for SLAM-Tracked VR Headsets with Hand Tracking

چکیده

In colocated multi-user Virtual Reality applications, relative user positions in the virtual environment need to match their physical tracking space. A mismatch between and real might lead harmful events such as collisions. This paper examines three calibration methods that enable scenarios for SLAM-tracked head-mounted displays without an external system. Two of these methods—fixed-point marked-based calibration—have been described previous research; third method uses hand capabilities is novel. We evaluated accuracy experimental procedure with two Oculus Quest devices. The results evaluation show our novel tracking-based provides better consistency while at same time being easy execute. further discusses potential all methods.

Handymap: A Selection Interface for Cluttered VR Environments Using a Tracked Hand-Held Touch Device

We present Handymap, a novel selection interface for virtual environments with dense datasets. The approach was motivated by shortcomings of standard ray-casting methods in highly cluttered views such as in our visualization application for coalbed methane well logs. Handymap uses a secondary 2D overview of a scene that allows selection of a target when it is occluded in the main view, and that...

6DOF SLAM with Stereo-in-hand

In this paper we describe a system that carries out SLAM using a stereo pair moving with 6DOF as the only sensor. Textured point features are extracted from the images and stored as 3D points if seen in both images with sufficient disparity, or stored as inverse 3D points otherwise. This allows the system to make use of both near and far features that provide distance and orientation, or orient...

A Low-Cost, Wearable Opto-Inertial 6-DOF Hand Pose Tracking System for VR

In this paper, a low cost, wearable six Degree of Freedom (6-DOF) hand pose tracking system is proposed for Virtual Reality applications. It is designed for use with an integrated hand exoskeleton system for kinesthetic haptic feedback. The tracking system consists of an Infrared (IR) based optical tracker with low cost mono-camera and inertial and magnetic measurement unit. Image processing is...

Hands and face tracking for VR applications

In this paper, we present a robust real-time 3D tracking system of human hands and face. This system can be used as a perceptual interface for virtual reality activities in a workbench environment. The main advantage of our system is that the human, that is in front of the virtual reality device, do not needs any type of marker or special suite. The system includes a real time color segmentatio...

Multi-modal Tracking for Object based SLAM

We present an on-line 3D visual object tracking framework for monocular cameras by incorporating spatial knowledge and uncertainty from semantic mapping along with high frequency measurements from visual odometry. Using a combination of vision and odometry that are tightly integrated we can increase the overall performance of object based tracking for semantic mapping. We present a framework fo...
